Installation Instructions
GETTING STARTED:
- Open each box and remove your Vinta Wood™ bundles. Do not remove the plastic wrapping.
- Allow the planks to acclimate in the area in which you will be installing them for 48-72 hours. In extremely dry climates, we recommend allowing the wood to acclimate for at least 96 hours.
- After acclimation is complete, remove the plastic wrapping and lay each plank out on the floor or large table. We suggest mixing planks from each of your boxes together to ensure good color and texture variation.
- Prepare your surface by simply taking a damp rag and wiping free of dust and debris. Make sure it is completely dry before installing the wood planks.
CREATING YOUR DESIGN:
- Each box of Vinta Wood™ contains a variety of wood planks in sizes of 1, 2, 3, and 4 feet in length.
- Begin by laying out 4 to 5 rows at a time on your floor or large table.
- If you are using our special Accent Planks, now is the time to insert individual planks in random locations until you achieve your desired look.
INSTALLING PEEL & STICK PLANKS:
- Best results occur when starting on the lower middle of the wall and systematically working upward and outward.
- With a pencil, use a level and straight edge to draw guidelines on the wall or to draw any mosaic or patterns you wish to create.
- At the edges of the wall, you may need to cut the planks to fit. There are several easy ways you can cut the planks:
- A miter saw typically provides the best cutting results. Simply mark the planks with a pencil and straight edge and align the blade carefully.
- Using a jigsaw is another effective way to cut the planks. Make sure to carefully mark each plank with a pencil and straight edge, and use a guide to ensure a straight cut.
- A hand saw is another easy way to cut the planks. We recommend using a straight edge to mark the line and a miter box to assist in keeping the cut straight.
- If power tools or saws are not available, a sharp box knife and a straight edge can be used to score the plank by running the blade across the wood several times. You can then snap the board along the score line and simply cut the tape on the back side.
- After you have decided on your layout and your planks are cut to fit the edges of the wall, it is time to adhere to the wall. We recommend test-fitting each plank to the wall before removing the protective backing on the tape to make sure your alignment and cuts are correct. Once you touch the tape to the wall, it will be difficult to remove without damaging the plank.
- To activate the adhesive, simply remove the thin backing on each piece of tape and then firmly and evenly press your plank into place.
- Work your way up the wall in sections of 4 to 5 rows, stopping after each to ensure your alignment and color composition is as desired.
- We recommend rolling each section with a J roller to ensure each piece is firmly attached to your gorgeous new Vinta Wall™ .
INSTALLING DIRECT APPLICATION PLANKS:

- If using construction adhesive, we recommend applying in a "zig-zag" pattern on the back of each plank, being careful not to put so much on that it oozes out from behind the planks. Firmly and evenly press your plank into place.
- If using finishing nails, we recommend using a two nail grouping, positioned one above the other, and approximately 2" apart. One grouping should be at each end of the plank. Nails should be approximately 1/2" from the edges of each plank to reduce the risk of cracking. For planks of 2' and 3' in length, it is necessary to also use a nail group in the center of the plank to prevent warping. For 4' planks, we recommend nail groupings at both ends of the plank, and then two additional groupings approximately 12" from each end and one additional nail group in the middle of the plank.
- Work your way up the wall in sections of 4 to 5 rows, stopping after each to ensure your alignment and color composition is as desired.
- If using construction adhesive, we recommend rolling each section with a J roller to ensure each piece is firmly attached to your gorgeous new Vinta Wall™.
TRIMMING AROUND SWITCHES AND OUTLETS:
*WARNING: Always turn off all electrical breakers before working near any power outlets or switches. Severe risk of electrocution if power exists during installation around electrical outlets or switches.
- Remove the face plate for each electrical outlet and switch.
- Loosen the top and bottom screws of the metal tabs in the electrical box.
- Use pencil and straight edge to carefully mark plank for a cut that will allow it to fit behind the face plate and tuck under the metal tabs on the outlet or switch in the electrical box.
- Cut the wall plank using one of the above cutting techniques.
- Test fit the cut plank to ensure it fits behind the metal tabs and such that the edges will be concealed by the face plate.
- Adhere to wall using the peel & stick adhesive, finish nails, or construction adhesive, depending on the application method you have selected.
- Tighten metal tabs on electrical box and reinstall face plate.
- Turn on electrical breakers to complete the process.
SPECIAL TECHNIQUES:
- When trimming around corners, one trick is to use your pencil to color the exposed edges of any planks to conceal the cut ends.
HANGING ITEMS ON YOUR VINTA WALL™ :
- Hanging decorations, mirrors, and pictures is easy to do on your beautiful new Vinta Wall™.
- Remember, the wall planks are not designed to hold any accessory weight, so you simply need to anchor your hanging object to the wall by pre-drilling the appropriate size hole through your wood plank and into the drywall.
- We recommend using either traditional screw-in drywall anchors or zip-anchors. Both are available at your local hardware store.
- After installing the anchor into the drywall, you can easily hang your favorite items on the wall without the weight being supported by your Vinta Wood™ wall planks. Gorgeous!
